‘Skins golfers third at BC Inv.

Ben Jones Sandusky Ben Jones Sandusky BROWN CITY – In a field of 14 teams, the Sandusky golf team turned in a very respectable third place finish at Wednesday’s Brown City Invitational.

On the Holly Meadows course (Capac), the Redskins shot an 18-hole, team score of 338. The ‘Skins trailed only champion Yale, with 320, and runner-up Marine City ‘A’, with 321.

“We played well. That was the best team scoring we’ve had at any event since I’ve been coaching,” commented a proud Brian Jones, ‘Skins coach. “If we can sustain this effort, we have a really good chance of going to Michigan State for the finals.”

Sandusky was led by seniors Brian Jones and Marshal Holt. Jones was sixth overall with a round of 80. Holt was right behind, tied for ninth, with an 81. Parker Marks, another senior added an 85.

“Ben’s 38 on the back was our best 9-hole round this year, and 80 for 18. He really led us,” noted Coach Jones. “Marshal Holt’s 81 was spectacular, too. Those guys are both four-year players, and they showed their leadership.”

Other county golfers that fared very well were Owen Flaherty of Cros-Lex with an 82 and Garrett Kunz of Brown City with an 87.
